Bca v/s Bba-IT match: The thorny encounter

The first match of the Symbiosis intra tournament began today (Sunday 25 January) with the Bca v/s Bba-It first year match. The NDA ground next to the SIMS College was the perfect battleground for the encounter between the BCA team headed by Ramankit Singh and the Bba-it team headed by Uplakshya.

At 9 a.m the whole bca team had already arrived with ‘Ramu’ Singh looking as fresh and determined as ever. The Umpire, a guy from Bba-It second year, came and told that if the opposing team didn’t come, they will get a bye. About 15 minutes later, the Bba-it team finally arrived.

There was a toss and the Bca chose to bowl first. Ramu came to bowl first. The first over was without any action apart from a crucial miss by Bhaskar to dismiss a player after he failed to out catch him. Score: 5/0. The following overs showed the Bba-it gathering points after points.

Atif, their opening batsman held on though at the end of the 2

nd over, he clearly missed a ‘free-hit’ occasion. The fielding set by Ramu was perfect and it really limited the Bba-it team to just a few runs per over. Though it should be noted that a few momentary lapses in the fielding defense resulted in successive fours by Atif.

At the start of the fifth over, Atif was finally bowled out by Anmol. A relief for the whole of the Bca team. That followed the dismissals of Vipul and Anuj. The last over was the most interesting one of all. Bba-it gave everything they could and a triple four isn’t something to be ignored. At the end of the 8th over, the score was 49/5. An easy target for the Bca team?

The opening pair of the bca team gave the opposing team a run for their money by playing so gracefully. Anmol was hitting successive fours and ankur who was having the time of his life, was adding runs to the tally .The former finally, was bowled out after 23 runs. The third order batsman Inayat was such in a perfect form. There were a few hilarious instances when misunderstandings in the bba-it team confused their own players and the bca team added more runs to their tally. The run rate was so slow, that it looked like such an easy game to win. And in the 5th over, they needed just one run to win and they did it with style with Ankur hitting a four. Score: 53/1. Bca won by 4 overs.

A special mention to Bhaskar who nearly injured himself falling in the dug-out and Prakash, Arunim and Bhushan who were the driving force of the fielding team. The following bca team worked hard to achieve this win and it’s just true to say that the leadership skill of Ramu Singh was the ideal catalyst to this thorny match. Tomorrow, the bca team will enter the semi finals. Let’s hope for the best.
